Kerala Budget 2010-2011 in Progress

Kerala’s Finance minister Dr. Thomas Isaac is now in the preparation of Kerala budget 2010. The budget will include many public welfare decisions and programs as the coming year is the year of election. The election to the state legislative assembly will be on next April 2011. Hence the budget for the year 2010-2011 will be the last budget of the left government in their tenure of this time.

The preparation of the budget as well as the discussions with the officials is held at the port trust’s guest house at Vizinjam. The chief issue in the preparation of budget is the upcoming report of the 13th Finance commission. As per the instructions of this report the central fund for the state will decrease around 1500 crore.

The new program from state government to reduce the legal activities on the land registration issues on the basis of a small fine will continue this year also. Through this program state had secured about 48 crore rupees. This year it is expected to collect about 50 crore rupees.

Finance minister also said the revenue deficit cannot be decreased and it will increase this time. Projects of around 4000 crores were done last year without scheduling in budget. This also will cause the increase in revenue deficit.

The Kerala budget 2010-2011 will give importance in increasing the income other than the revenue. More investments will be welcomed through the state treasuries. There will not be any hike in university fees as they are already increased.

The state revenue will be increased through the auction of fallen trees and sand from the reservoirs. Core banking system will be implemented in state treasuries to attract the depositors. This makes possible the deposit and withdrawal from any treasury.

Kerala budget 2010 will be presented on March 6th or 12th after the instructions from the centre.
