At the time of Grand Kerala Shopping festival the whole state becomes a huge shopping mall. This is the chief attraction of the festival. There is no particular ground or mall for the shopping festival. Customers can enjoy the extravaganza of the shopping through the registered shops all over the state.
Grand Kerala Shopping Festival can make Kerala an International destination for tourism as well as shopping. This is the largest shopping festival in Asia. Grand Kerala Shopping Festival is from 1st December to 15th January every year. Hospitals, medical stores, life saving equipment trading shops and liquor shops cannot participate in the festival. The shops which are included in the shopping festival can be identified by the posters, danglers as well as signage exhibited at the front of the shop. Customers are attracted with Weekly prizes, Mega win prizes as well as Scratch and win prizes. A sum of 20 crores is reserved for the event in government budget. The closing ceremony of the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival will be held at Kollam on 31st January 2010.
