Multiplexes are coming to Cochin to provide Keralites a different experience of cinema. The first one of the kind will get inaugurated at Oberon mall next month. The Cinemax India limited of Kanakia group is opening 4 multiplex screens in Oberon Mall. Cinemax offers better sound and picture quality in these multiplexes. These theaters will exhibit Malayalam movies too along Bollywood and Hollywood movies.
The total seating capacity from all the 4 screens is 634. Screen 3 with 182 seats is the biggest screen. Screen 1 has 158 seats and screens 2 and 4 are having 117 seats each. Screens 1,2 are 4 are having only executive class tickets. Screen 3 is having Gold class too apart from executive class. The ticket rates in the executive class are Rs 80 for morning show, Rs 120 for matinee and Rs 150 for first and second shows. The Gold class ticket rates are Rs 100 for morning show, Rs 140 for matinee and Rs 200 for the evening shows. Cinemax is having about 86 screens from 27 multiplexes.
Multiplexes are also coming at LuLu International shopping mall at Edapally. There will be about 9 screens of different sizes that can occupy about 2,100 audiences. The seating capacity varies from 50 -250 in each screens.
These screens are well equipped with modern sound and projection techniques including 3D. Specially trained operators of international standards will be employed in multiplexes. There will also multiple food and refreshment counters in these multiplexes. The Multiplexes will be also attached with entertainment areas that include different amusement rides, ice skating rink, bowling alley etc.
Plans are also there to set up multiplex in DLF trade centre at Marine Drive.
